Frist and Immigration Reform

As I have stated before, Immigration will be one of (if not the) deciding issues in the 2008 elections. Now it seems that Immigration may become a deciding issue in the 2006 elections. Senate Majority Leader Bill Frist announced on his blog that he will be bringing a bill to the Senate Floor in February that will spark “real conversation about how to fix our immigration system”. He promises “meaningful reform”.

This “real conversation” may be just what Republicans need to get away from their failings of late and focus on what America is thinking about. The party that wins on immigration will be the party in control for a while in DC.
